Pensacola! Having just recorded his two-part comedy special ‘Trips' at the immersive art mecca Meow Wolf Shane Mauss (pronounced Moss) is coming to Florida to debut his tour of the third part of the series at Handlebar!
On April 19th (Bicycle Day), ‘Trips’ will debut the first two episodes of the psychedelic stand-up series. We get to announce the platform in February!
On December 17th, Pensacola gets one of the only sneak peaks at the third installment of ‘Trips’ as he puts the new show together before next year’s big tour and series launch.
If you are new to Shane’s work, check out his viral Comedy Central’s ‘Tales From The Trip’ videos to get a hilarious taste of what to expect.

Award-winning comedian, autodidact, and explorer Shane Mauss has put together a show unlike anything else. His psychedelic comedy show combines a visual experience that (just like a psychedelic experience) can twist, turn and adapt in real-time. We even take questions from the audience so you can see how we can improvise both the material and visuals!
The collaborative effort of over 20 visionary artists from around the world, including Emmy-nominated animator and Comedy Central ‘Tales From The Trip’ creator, Grant Lindahl, is put together live by video jockey Michael Strauss making every show unique.
Part-trip report, part-Ted Talk, all comedy for celebration of the experiences that stimulate minds, open hearts, and bust guts.

Shane Mauss caught his first big breaks with his absurdist wit on Conan, Kimmel, Comedy Central, Showtime and others. While touring he decided to use any free time exploring his interesting science by interviewing scientists for his podcast ‘Here We Are’ where he has interviewed about 450 scientists about the mind, perception and the endless meanings of life.
In 2016, the lifelong psychedelic and mental health advocate partnered with the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) on a 111 city psychedelic comedy tour during which a film crew followed him for the Amazon Prime documentary ‘Psychonautics: A Comic’s Exploration of Psychedelics’.
In 2023 Shane created his multimedia show ‘A Better Trip’ for a Vegas residency at the immersive psychedelic entertainment complex Area 15 before a 150 city tour ending in a two part special streaming 4/19/25
With new material and visuals, A New Trip is his latest creation.

Is prior experience necessary to enjoy the show?
Like trip-inspired music, experience might heighten the enjoyment, but it isn’t at all necessary.
The show is meant to capture the essence of and even simulate elements of a trip. An impossible task to be sure, but we’re still proud of what we’ve been able to innovate.
Although my favorite compliment after a show is when experienced people praise the accuracy of the descriptions... My second favorite complement is how often people bring back their inexperienced friends, family and coworkers to enjoy the accessible case I often make for letting go of the taboos.
Will you be dosed while performing?
Dear DMT Gods NO. I have tried a couple times just to see if it was as bad of an idea as I thought and never care to run that experiment again lol.
Although I come up with most of this material during experiences, there is nothing enjoyable about trying to remember my material while tripping. It’s a waste of both a fun performance and good entheogens.
Why do psychedelics and go to work when I’d rather be looking at coagulating trees?
Should I come tripping?
I’m not going to tell you how to live your life, but it’s not what the show was designed for. (I personally enjoy tripping in nature).
Stand-up comedy generally requires more of an attention span and this show especially is more cerebral and informative than typical stand-up. When I’m on psychedelics, I’d rather be daydreaming than focusing.
You do you, but you might find that the show is already trippy enough and adding a trip to it.
The show was made to integrate past experiences, learn while laughing, and inspire better future trips. The hope is that memories of the show will come out during future experiences.
What’s your favorite part about the show?
I’ve done traditional stand-up full-time for nearly 20 years and various sciencey themed shows for 10 years. I’ve performed nearly everywhere at every kind of venue and audience I can imagine.
The psychedelic audiences are always the best combination of friendly, smart, attentive, enthusiastic, and fun. Sometimes I get to see strangers with this similar interest make new friends. It’s a great community.
